Miss L’s Whole Brain Teaching- has a page where you can find a lot of math resources. You can search her blog by filtering out posts labelled with only “grade 8 math”. She displays pictures and explanations of how she taught her lessons and has great ideas.

Mr Fedley’s Blog-his blog can be separated into his course overview, classwork and how he assesses his students. The course overview allows his students to see what they’ll be learning in grade 8 math this year. He posts his instructions, report template, criterias and prezi presentations for his students to look at.

Ordering Percents, Fractions and Decimals: Using 3 different grids, students highlight tiles; the highlighted portions are represented as percents, fractions and decimals. The gizmo then compares the numbers (ie. 3%<0.45<86/100)

Percent of Change: Students explore markups and discounts (i.e. Original cost=$20, markup=50% of $20=$10, selling price=$20+$10) using “price” number lines
